Motion Design, Class Project

I created a title sequence for my “own” hypothetical film. The objective was to tell a story visually, convey a concept, and establish a certain emotional mood, while carrying some information with type. Utilizing and further exploring what I’ve learned in my previous motion design class – timing, kinetic typography, structuring, sequencing, transitions, etc.

Story

Its the summer of 2000, on the south side of Chicago. Amiyah is an African American teen with a passion for film making, she never leaves the house without her camcorder. She’s a smart girl, but her sharp tongue and abundant ego has landed her stuck working at her moms hair store for the summer. While everyone gets to let loose, Amiyah is stuck inside until a new friend moves to town and pulls her away from her summer job. Tyrese, is a rebellious basketball player joining her class next school year and together this lively duo juggle friendship, and finding their way in the neighboorhood documenting their adventures on Amiyah’s camcorder.
